Did You Know?

This sheath was designed to house a double-edged kalis (kris) blade.

Description

The flaring, boat-shaped upper section of this scabbard is intricately decorated with vegetal scrollwork likely derived from the okir designs typical of the Maranao or Maguindanao people. The lower portion of the sheath is unadorned, highlighting the natural grain of the dark hardwood.
