A teardrop-shaped wood and lacquer lute features a long, slender neck and four oversized, pointed tuning pegs projecting horizontally. Gold and green lacquer depict a peacock standing on a rock, its long tail feathers trailing downward. Golden peony blossoms on leafy stems frame the bird, flanked by two crescent-shaped sound holes. At the base, a small bird swims on dark water. Visible wood grain runs vertically behind these decorative motifs.
