A circular iron sword guard, or tsuba, features a dark-brown, textured surface with reddish-brown patches. Three central openings include a vertical wedge, an irregular cutout, and an oval plugged with textured gold. In relief, mountain peaks cap the top beside drifting clouds. Below, a figure in a boat navigates waters near rocks and gnarled trees. Gold highlights the landscape patterns, contrasting against the aged, pitted metal disk.
