A horizontally oriented woodcut on two joined sheets depicts a military siege from an elevated view. On the left, a fortified city with a stone turret sits behind a curved embankment. Rectangular blocks of pike-holding soldiers fill the landscape, with tiny figures scattering right. Plumes of dark smoke rise from distant fires beneath a cloudy sky. Fine, hatched lines define the terrain, clusters of spindly trees, and distant, rolling hills.
