A horizontally oriented intricate engraving in black ink depicts a crowded classical procession. Left, Emperor Trajan and the personification of Rome stand together as winged Victory crowns the emperor with a laurel wreath. To the right, Roman soldiers in detailed armor on horseback ride toward our right. In the lower foreground, two defeated men lie on the ground, one sprawled on his back and another cowering beneath the horses' hooves.
