Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (December 23, 1842) as plate 46 from the series Ancient History.
A vertically oriented lithograph in black ink depicts two women in Roman-style robes beside a table with animal-shaped legs. On the left, a slender woman holds jewelry over an open chest. On the right, a stouter woman gestures toward two unkempt children; one stands picking their nose while the other sprawls on the floor. Faint columns and silhouettes appear in the background, framed by printed French text and artist initials.
