Description

This print was published in Le Charivari (October 28, 1843) as plate 11 from the series The Railroads.
A horizontally oriented lithograph in black ink on light paper depicts an older person with light skin peering through a carriage window on the left, eyes wide and mouth agape. To the right, a bearded man wearing a cap, dark jacket, and striped pants leans forward while grasping an open carriage door. Heavy hatching and shading create a sharp contrast between the dark carriage interior and the lighter exterior scene.
