Around the same time that Picasso made this etching, his friend Guillaume Apollinaire also wrote a poem about the biblical figure of Salomé.
Four outlined people on tan paper. In the lower right, a kneeling topless person holds a head on a plate in their lap, a tendril of the head's beard in their hand, and look up at a thin, nude person kicking their leg up to meet the palm of their outstretched left hand, right arm swinging behind them. Furthest left, a topless, plump person sits, wearing an oval-shaped hat with another topless person behind them.
