A vertically oriented etching in black ink on off-white paper depicts Frans Snyders, a man with light skin, wavy hair, a curled mustache, and a pointed beard. Shown from the shoulders up in the upper half, he wears a buttoned garment with a ruffled collar. Shaded with fine hatched lines, his face emerges from the paper, while horizontal lines create a dark background behind his head on our right.
