Did You Know?

In ancient Mesoamerica, jade was more valuable than gold.
A vertical jade ornament features two stacked faces in mottled light and emerald green. The top face has a crisscrossed crest above large protruding eyes and a beak-like nose. Below, a human-like face with narrow eyes is flanked by circular earspools. The right side is jagged and irregular where the piece was broken, and the bottom edge is scalloped. The stone has a smooth, polished finish.
