Description

During the early decades of his career, Viktor Schreckengost created dozens of ceramic animal sculptures, often giving them humorous titles. Beauty Nap features a baby hippopotamus atop its mother, both asleep. Mottled brown and white glazes drip down from the upper register of the composition onto the lower part, which is unglazed.
