A horizontally oriented etching in black ink depicts a river lock. Still water in the foreground reflects dark, wooden gates and piers. On the left, a gate features a long diagonal beam, while a pier near thin trees stands on the right. Beyond, dense clusters of fine lines convey foliage lining the far shore. Pale, horizontal lines fill the sky. In the lower left, cursive script identifies the scene and artist.
