Koike Shōko, one of the first women to graduate from the renowned ceramics department at the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, often draws her forms from the ocean. The artist has shaped this lidded vessel as a shell, with sweeping curves and serrated edges, capturing an undulating sense of movement.
