Description

Among Evan’s earliest photographic achievements is this astonishing, worm-eye view of a Manhattan skyscraper. He created a striking, abstract composition through his dramatic use of light and shade and his keen eye for establishing order. Slices of buildings in deep shadow frame the central tower and establish an ambiguous sense of space. The three-dimensional subject matter is flattened into bold two-dimensional patterns of light and dark, positive and negative. In this sleek work, Evans captured the spirit of the modern moment.
