Description

Grippe was one among a group of artists who oversaw the New York branch of Atelier 17 after Stanley William Hayter returned permanently to Paris in 1950. His most famed series of prints features abstracted renderings of jazz musicians. In these works, another of which is exhibited below, lively intersecting lines and rhythmically repeated shapes suggest the energy of the music and its performance.
