Kazuhisa Honda

(Japanese, 1948-)

Color mezzotint on Rives BFK paper

Overall: 15 x 17.7 cm (5 7/8 x 6 15/16 in.)

Gift of Ray W. Clarke in memory of Donald E. Kendziora 1996.18.3

Honda is one of the main heirs to Hamaguchi's advances in mezzotint, but he has added his own dimension to the technique, expanding the use of color. His style and often eerie, surrealistic imagery also show a departure from the elder artist's approach to subject matter.
