Description

A social documentary photographer, Debbie Fleming Caffery is known for her extended bodies of work including photographs of rural Louisiana's sugarcane workers and her most recent images which record the markets, festivals, and rituals of Mexico. Conveying a sense of mystery and spirituality, she obscures the specific identity of the figure in Untitled, who participates in the Day of the Dead festival, through a combination of high-contrast lighting and long shutter speeds.
