Description

Do you hear the music? The swoop of these dancing feet sets the beat in this snapshot of city life. Elizabeth Olds wrote, "Harlem was a bevy of activity in the afternoons and evenings," filled with singing and dancing New Yorkers. Some of the era's leading authors, choreographers, and intellectuals lived in this neighborhood during the 1920s and '30s.
