Stephen Gooden was also a well-known bookplate designer; one of his designs was for the royal library at Windsor Castle.
A grid of twelve vertical black-and-white engravings features central scenes framed by ornate borders of interlaced lines. The top-left panel contains a circular portrait above serif text. Remaining panels depict humans and animals, such as a fox and stork or an ape on a dolphin. Fine hatching and stippling define figures and depth. In the lower-right panel, a rampant lion stands beside a winding banner labeled "The End."
