Description

A long tradition exists among artists, especially 20th-century photographers, of using their spouses as both models and muses for extended periods of time. Gowin, who has periodically photographed his wife, Edith, since their marriage in 1964, has captured her resonance and emotional strength in a wide range of deeply personal images of unconventional poses made as a part of everyday life.
