Hewit began to exhibit her work both locally and nationally in 1933. In this year, she exhibited work in Latest Work of American Print Makers at the Philadelphia Art Alliance, and in 1937 her work was included in Paintings and Prints by Cleveland Artists at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Every year from 1935 to 1956, she exhibited in the Cleveland Museum of Art's prestigious Annual Exhibition of Work by Cleveland Artists and Craftsmen, known locally as the May Show. During these years she also often participated in the Ohio Print Makers Exhibition organized by the Dayton Art Institute. Hewit continued to show her work through 1979.
