Description

Baumann, filled with wanderlust, left Brown County, Indiana, in early 1917 and headed east. He spent the year traveling and working in Wyoming, New York; New York City; Boston; and Provincetown, Massachusetts, where this watercolor was made. Notice how the artist tested colors and made a preliminary sketch of the man pulling the wagon in the upper right margin.
