Description

In his explorations of war, Norfolk seeks to capture its impact on humanity and the environment. In this image, the peaceful, sun-drenched date grove belies the presence of conflict. Shadowed on the ground, however, are spent shells, abandoned boots, and a crumpled tarpaulin. Norfolk sees it as his duty to make the viewer examine the scene more closely and recognize its true nature: a site of war.
