Golden Shadows

Joy Jacobs

(American, 1932–2004)

Mixed media on paper

Sheet: 93.5 x 94 cm (36 13/16 x 37 in.)

Gift of Dr. and Mrs. Norman L. Roulet 2008.23

As suggested by their titles, Jacobs’s meticulously constructed abstractions were inspired by natural phenomena. The artist once described her work as being "about looking and feeling, not concerned with describing nature, but rather with the feeling it evokes."
