Berger travelled the United States documenting roadside memorials for five years. Created throughout the country, these shrines have simply become part of the natural landscape. "There has been much debate over whether these monuments are a nuisance that should be removed, or whether they are sacred items to be respected," she has said. "I see these as little works of art that enhance the scenery."
