Description

Even though Lyon’s project received official sanctioning in the form of a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts, he still felt like a burglar when entering the abandoned buildings: “I took more than photographs. . . . In one abandoned room in the vegetable market, I made a photograph of the 1951 calendar of Marilyn Monroe, then I took the calendar too.”
