Did You Know?

The widow, who lived alone in a garret in Paris, had known Toulouse-Lautrec and Gauguin.

Description

Stationed in a photo lab outside Paris while serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, the twenty-two-year-old Davidson began photographing the aged widow of Impressionist painter Léon Fauché. In a methodical dedication that would later become typical of Davidson’s working style, he visited Madame Margaret Fauché daily for months, photographing every aspect of her life.
