Watercolor and ink on paper

Sheet: 20.2 x 18.7 cm (7 15/16 x 7 3/8 in.)

Gift of Margo and Bob Roth 2018.71

These spontaneous and generative drawings were made collaboratively by the Northeast Ohio artists Craig Lucas and Michael Loderstedt over the course of several evenings in 1996, when the two passed the sheets across a table to add to or cover the other's marks. The artists used observation, abstraction, and symbols from their environment to create what they considered a symbolic atlas of Northeast Ohio.
