One of Davidson’s best-known series, Brooklyn Gang was inspired by a news story he read about a teenage gang called the Jokers.
Most of the gang members were 15 or 16 years old. “No matter where it was,” reminisced Jokers member Bob Powers, “we used to carve our names.” Pete, whose name is on the Coca Cola cooler, was one of the Jokers.
