This occupational portrait shows the subjects amid the objects with which they make their living.
Campos and Aguirre sell car mufflers. Campos, who had worked at the stand for two years when this photo was taken, needed help, so brought in his friend. The artist wanted workers like these two men, who serve the tourists and wealthy Lima residents of the upscale Miraflores area, to be seen as individuals, so he handwrote their life stories around their portraits.
