Description

Cesar Raul Vargas was sent to Lima at age 12. He first worked as a shoeshine boy, then became a welder’s assistant and now has his own business. The artist wanted workers like Vargas, who serve the tourists and wealthy Lima residents of the upscale Miraflores area, to be seen as individuals, so he handwrote their life stories around their portraits.
