This image depicts one of the most unforgettable moments in the history of the National Football League.
Walter Iooss depicts San Francisco 49er Dwight Clark as he grasps the winning touchdown reception in the 1981 National Football Conference Championship Game. He snatched victory away from the Dallas Cowboys, who had dominated the conference since 1970. With 58 seconds remaining, Clark soared into the air to catch a pass from Joe Montana. The 49ers went on to win that year’s Superbowl and three more in the 1980s.
