Description

Dexter, born 1961, was the third child of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Coretta Scott King. This intimate portrait was taken by Flip Schulke, a photojournalist who met King after covering a rally in 1958. They stayed up all night talking and became fast friends. Schulke created 11,000 photographs of the Civil Rights movement, giving us inside views of key historical moments and private ones like this picture of a son and his loving father.
