The chalice features an enamel Chi Rho design, which are Greek letters symbolizing Jesus Christ.

Description

Born in Cleveland to Czech immigrants, Vanis studied metalsmithing at the Cleveland Institute of Art and forged her career in a male-dominated field. Although she worked many years as a jewelry designer for a local studio, she remains best-known for her independently created objects in silver, such as Chalice, which also features enamelwork.
