Did You Know?

Nobuyoshi Araki is best known for erotic and emotional photographs that can be shocking or tender and sentimental.

Description

Now in his eighties, infirmities and the pandemic have led Araki to turn his camera on his neighborhood and his home, which is filled with small tableaux created with toys and artificial flowers, among other items. This close-up of a demon doll, set apart from a jumble of other small figures, reflects that limited scope while suggesting the photographer’s continued gusto for life and impish personality.
Polaroid photo of a red demon figurine, possibly a toy, with five silver horns protruding from the head and black eyes, holding a indiscernible black object and looking at a pile, cast in shadow, of barely discernable figurines and flowers.
