Description

Ellsworth Kelly began to make plant drawings during in the late 1940s, returning to them consistently until his death in 2015. Though better-known for his abstract paintings and prints, the plant drawings consistently informed his abstraction. Kelly has described them as a “bridge to a way of seeing that was the basis of the very first abstract paintings.”
