Did You Know?

Pioneering Conceptual artist John Baldessari worked in a plethora of media including sculpture, printmaking, photography, painting, film, performance, installation, and books.

Description

John Baldessari was known for incorporating appropriated imagery into his various artworks, including into his printmaking practice. Here he used found photographs of architecture and architectural rubble juxtaposed with outlined figures to create strange or even ominous undertones. His continuing interest in formal qualities, such as dimensionality, is highlighted by his use of the irregularly shaped sheet of paper, white cut-outs and silhouettes.
