Description

On a terrace outside a royal chamber, a couple dressed in noble garments are making love. The man has loosened his jama in passion while his consort’s gold blouse has been thrown on the red carpet. Thin clouds appear to gather above the golden rays of the evening sun in the clear sky.
A vertically oriented tempera and gold painting depicts Raja Mahendra Pal, wearing a pink robe and turban, lifting a nude queen. Both have light skin tones and are positioned on a red carpet beneath an orange canopy. The queen arches her back as a blue bolster rests to the right. To the left, discarded garments and bottles sit. Behind them, a pavilion stands before dense trees. A pink-speckled border frames the scene.
