Description

The painting is divided into two registers. The top register depicts a royal lady being attended by maidservants outside a bed chamber. The lower register depicts a noble walking with his consort, holding her tight and offering her a garland. The surrounding women dance and play music with an exuberance echoed in the vegetation.
A vertically oriented tempera and ink painting features people with light to medium skin tones in two stacked registers. Above, a woman sits on a platform with three attendants near a white-domed building. Peacocks perch on trees to the right. Below, in a garden under a dark blue sky, a man and woman embrace. They are surrounded by five women dancing, playing a drum, or gathering flowers. A yellow border frames the composition.
