The red canopy with a yellow border above them is to be used as a fan.

Description

Sitting on a floral carpet outside a bedchamber, a noble dressed in Mughal apparel including Jahangir-period turban and decorated sash is trying to assuage his displeased consort. The lady turns her face away from the man, showing that his appeals have been ignored. The black sky indicates that their quarrel takes place in the middle of the night.
A vertically oriented tempera and gold painting depicts three figures with light skin tones on a terrace under a red canopy. A woman in a blue blouse and yellow skirt sits facing a kneeling man in a white tunic. Behind a red building to our left, an attendant fans the couple. Flowering trees rise against a black sky. A red border with script at the top frames the flowered foreground and scene.
