Description

A young prince stands against a light blue backdrop, dressed in white translucent muslin jama (belted tunic) and yellow trousers. He has a dagger safely tucked in his sash while he holds a long straight sword encased in a black sheath. Religious markings (tilakas) on his forehead, neck, and ear indicate that he was a follower of the Hindu god Vishnu, who was popular among the royal houses of Rajasthan.
A vertically oriented gum tempera and gold painting depicts a man with light-brown skin in profile, facing right. He wears a white turban, tan tunic, long necklaces, a translucent white skirt over a yellow patterned base, yellow leggings, and dark shoes. Against a pale green backdrop, he holds a sword with a gold hilt and black scabbard. The figure is framed by a gold border and a broad, vibrant red margin.
