Description

Sharing a bottle of wine, the royal couple enjoy the performance of a musician playing a vina and the horse-headed divinity Tumbaru on the cymbals. Tumbaru is a divinity who has the power to increase the prosperity of the realm. This page is from a series that was made on the occasion of Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.
A vertically oriented tempera and gold painting depicts a couple with light skin tones on a blue platform under a red, tasseled awning. The man gestures toward an animal-headed musician playing cymbals and another holding a stringed instrument. A large tree stands to our left, while a floral-patterned building sits in the background beneath a cloudy sky. Plain beige and decorative borders frame the entire scene.
