Black ink and gum tempera are applied to a horizontally oriented palm leaf in three dense blocks of script. Two circular binding holes punctuate the tan surface between the text fields. The leaf displays irregular, worn edges and a prominent horizontal grain. The composition is defined by rhythmic, compact markings arranged across the narrow length of the organic material, where the grain occasionally shows through the medium.
