Black ink and gum tempera brushed onto a horizontally oriented, textured palm leaf features three distinct panels of dense script. These rectangular blocks of dark ink contrast with the tan, fibrous grain. Two small circular voids puncture the leaf, symmetrically spaced. A solitary black character floats above the left void. Repeated, uniform marks compose the script, while the leaf's slightly uneven ends and horizontal graining provide a natural, weathered frame for the calligraphy.
