Black ink is brushed onto a horizontally oriented, textured tan surface. Three dense blocks of intricate script sit side by side, punctuated by two circular voids that pierce the warm, organic leaf. The dark characters contrast against the horizontal grain, while small notations mark the weathered margins. The composition creates a rhythmic interplay between the heavy, dark text and the light negative space of the ancient material.
