A long, horizontal palm leaf with rounded ends features three rectangular sections of dense, black script. Painted in gum tempera and ink, the tan surface shows a visible horizontal grain, punctuated by two circular holes, one to either side of the center text block. Each block contains uniform rows of characters. Slightly irregular edges highlight the organic form, framing the rhythmic, patterned arrangement of text.
