A horizontally oriented tan palm leaf features three rectangular blocks of dense, compact black script. Two circular binding holes are punched between the blocks, punctuating the horizontal flow of the text. Small characters and numerals occupy the outer margins. The script is uniform and rhythmic, contrasting with the leaf's organic, rounded corners. This piece balances precise, repetitive ink-work against the irregular, weathered surface of the natural palm material.
