A long, horizontal palm leaf features frayed, irregular edges and three dense blocks of black script in gum tempera and ink. Uniform horizontal rows of compact characters fill each rectangle. Two small circular holes puncture the leaf between the central and end blocks, creating rhythmic interruptions in the text. The natural tan of the leaf provides a stark backdrop for the repetitive, geometric quality of the handwritten inscriptions.
