A horizontally oriented tan palm leaf features gum tempera and dense blocks of black ink script. Three rectangular sections of text are divided by two small circular holes. Smaller characters sit in the margins at the far left and right. The bottom edge is irregular and chipped, and the color is a warm, muted tan. The crisp lettering contrasts with the weathered, organic texture of the long strip.
