Did You Know?

Su Dongpo 蘇東坡 (1037–1101) was the leading Song dynasty poet and artist.
A hanging scroll in ink on tan paper depicts Su Dongpo, a man with light skin tone, riding a donkey to our right. He wears a wide, circular hat and long-sleeved robe, with a long beard and eyes looking forward. Faint, sketchy lines suggest vegetation in the upper-left, while streaky gray washes and dark outlines define the donkey. Two red square seals are stamped in the lower-left corner.
